Still Kicking
Posted Saturday, September 20, 2014 by RiscIt - Comments (5)
Despite historical observations and other outward appearances, Marathon Arena is not dead. It is simply the case that a major change in plans necessitated starting a lot of things over.

In time we will show some progress. We don't, however, want to make the same mistake as other projects and give people lots of things to drool over but not deliver for years and years, so we're waiting until closer to release.

Rest assured, however - We're here. We're alive. And we've noted that MJOLNIR Mark IV armor doesn't react well to crowbars.

Is it hot in here?

For a thousand and one orbits, the attempt was

Hey! Hey! Hey! I (RiscIt) am back from travels abroad and ready to rock. I'll be back to beating encouraging team members to pump out some great content for the project soon. Expect to see something new on the site within the next couple weeks!

ok.. I'm tired of seeing this page unchanged, so here's the deal: Cgg has been too busy to code, but says things will change soon. I myself have been out of the country studying in England. As a result, I haven't been as able to whip people into shape encourage folks to work on the project as much as I should. All is well, however. We aren't dead - for now...

Sorry 'bout the downtime, folks. We had some minor troubles with the server hard drive (<-- understatement of the year!). A big thanks to Claude of for getting us back up and running so fast!

A poll for our readers:

When I am working on the soundtrack, what do you want to hear for in game music:

A: Blasting, pumping guitar driven techno ei: M2?
B: Moody, dark, ambient gothic type trance?
C: N'sync style booty shakin' pop tunes?

Post your opinion.

Hey you! Yeah, you with that 3D Studio Maxx or QERadiant experience. Get over here. Our code base is flying along, thanks to Cgg, but we need modelers, texture artists (of the modeling type), and mappers (not even creative mappers, just people who know QERadiant). Drop us a line at and we'll get you the details. Quick! We're on a roll! =)

Oh wait... That's the wrong kind of logging. No matter. I've added a feature log to the progress page. Whenever I get a new build from a team member I will enter the features which were added or changed here. This way you can all get a better idea of what has and has not been done. Enjoy!
But You Were Dead A Thousand Times...

Well.. Here we are. Again. =) Cgg, a frenchman from Paris, has taken over the role of lead programmer. This leaves me in a mere organizational role, which I think I can handle. It will certaintly be less demanding of my time. In addition, Arlo, "creator" of the infamous VäporOS, will be doing some general purpose art work. I am in the process of contacting the old members of the team to see if they are still interested in helping.

On a side note - Cgg has accomplished a milestone task for MA. You have no idea how cool it is to have 2 triggers on your machine gun in Quake 3... especially when the 2nd fires grenades which explode on impact. Sound familiar? =)
